Remark
Ensemble Concert
Where does one find sanctuary in a bustling metropolis? “Music for Tranquility of Mind“ transforms the concert hall into an elegant and relaxing tea house. Hosted by renowned dongxiao (vertical bamboo flute) master Tam Po-shek, it features a heartfelt dialogue about music and life with Artistic Director Yan Huichang.
This unique concert series has deep roots in the institution. In 1999, Artistic Director Yan recognised Tam’s exceptional gifts and curated the first “Music for Tranquility of Mind” concert for him. What began as a platform to showcase an individual musician’s potential grew, along with “The Way follows nature” and “Xiao melodies soothe the soul”, into a full-fledged series.
For the HKCO Golden Jubilee, Tam returns in an intimate “one table two chairs” setting, sharing his heartfelt reflections on music, wellness and life in Hong Kong. Interwoven with his words, musicians perform familiar melodies classic and popular, enhanced by carefully designed background visuals.
This is a bespoke “spa for the soul” for city dwellers. Through the gentle flow of music and thoughtful, wise words, fatigue and the dust of daily life wash away as we rediscover the beauty and tenderness of living.
