Our signature series epitomises the artistic credo of “small but exquisite”, providing a dedicated stage for emerging talents and young virtuosi. For this “Passing the Torch” concert, we welcome the renowned Cantonese musicmaster and gaohu virtuoso Yu Qiwei as Artistic Advisor.

This concert features outstanding young graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. “Passing the Torch” here vividly embodies the orchestra’s philosophy: “From traditional roots, to cutting-edge visionary. Embracing diversity and eclectic styles”. Artists with youthful vitality interpret the classics, creating a dynamic dialogue among generations, breathing vibrant contemporary energy into ancient traditions. 

The profound charm of Cantonese music and the graceful elegance of Jiangnan silk-and-bamboo resonate together on stage, as diverse small ensemble configurations portray the rich and varied Chinese soundscapes from north to south.
